Dodge Power Wagon

Dodge Power Wagon was produced and became a boom in the automotive industry around 1945 to the late 1980’s. As a four-wheel drive, Dodge Power Wagons were popularly and formerly used as a military truck because of its fine engineering and solid build. The original types of Dodge Wagons were the 100 and 200 wagons that were famous for the next 10 years or so, until additional parts and the engineering were modified.

As an army’s truck, Dodge Power Wagons were designed with cargo boxes usually sizing 8 feet. Originally, these wagons had a wheelbase chassis of more or less 120 inches and the cubic-inch head engine is approximately 230. Included in the first power wagons were a 4 speed transmission that powers to the rear and front and a 2 speed fase.

Add-ons were then placed as years passed and more modern automotive engineering techniques and spare parts emerged. What used to be 230 before was then develop to 250 cubic-inch flat head 6. At this time, a standard dodge power wagon weighed around 8000-9000 lbs with up to 3000 lbs maximum payload.

There were also modifications made to the dodge wagon’s sweptline (body) that was a result of some energy crisis in the previous years and so the whole design was changed back to its part time four wheel drive, which provides better opportunity to be energy efficient.

Most owners of power wagons are campers, big families or off-road sports enthusiast around 1970’s. A subtype of dodge wagons, which is “Crew Cab”, was not very popular during this time but a lot of avid collectors are crazy of this model.

Around 1990’s, the dodge wagon models have then been produced with different designs, colors and parts. Some engineering were better than the others but in general, wagons are fantastic off road wheels. At this time, additional features like the 6 cylinder Cummins turbo diesel engine were added as optional features. It was also at this time when power wagons were renamed “RAMs” which was changed back to “dodge power” and then back to Ram in the early 2000’s. Despite the frequent transitions of the engineering, modeling and other components, most dodge powers still had its basic packages and basic engineering. The add-ons were then just installed to make it more powerful and brute.

Latest models were released in 2010 and had the named “RAM” attached to them. RAM 2500 is a special version which is exclusively made for off-road driving. It’s main engine is only 5.7L Hemi V8, which is a powerful engine perfect for off-road adventures.
