The 2010 Toyota RAV4 Featuring the Latest Greatest New 2.5 Liter Engine

Toyota has continued to give customers the option of the 2.5 liter four-cylinder engine on the all new 2010 Toyota RAV4. This engine model was first introduced on the 2009 Toyota RAV4 model and received very high ratings from buyers. Toyota produced this engine with the focus of it being engineered as a low friction performance motor.

The 2.5 liter engine comes equipped with an offset crankshaft, roller rockers for the valve train, a variable three stage oil pump, piston rings that have a reduced tension rating and an auxiliary belt drive, that are the key to the low friction technologies available on this model. This engine model is further enhanced by the integrated twin balance shafts that helps to reduce the noise and vibration in the 2010 RAV4 2.5 liter engine.

However, this is just the beginning of the benefits of Toyota's new 2010 RAV4 2.5 liter engine. This engine has a high compression rating of 10.4 to 1, but still has the ability to operate on a regular grade of unleaded fuel due to an optimized cylinder head and piston cooling abilities.

The 2010 Toyota RAV4 2.5 liter engine model produces 179 horsepower that puts it in the high end of standard engines. Timing on both the intake and exhaust camshafts are controlled by a Dual Independent Variable Valve Timing with intelligence. The EPA rating on the new 2010 RAV4 4×2 models is 22 miles to the gallon of gasoline during city driving conditions and 28 miles to the gallon of gasoline during highway driving conditions. The EPA ration of 4×4 models is 21 miles to the gallon of gasoline during city driving conditions and 27 miles to the gallon of gasoline during highway driving conditions. The flex lock-up torque converter that is featured on this model helps to control lock-up switch slippage and helps to add to the fuel economy of this vehicle. All of these features add up to a give the new 2010 RAV4 an excellent rating when considering its fuel efficiency.
