The Chevrolet Tahoe – A Powerful and Reliable SUV

The Chevrolet Tahoe falls under the full size SUV model, produced by the General Motors group. Both GMC and the Chevrolet sold the two various sized SUVs under the brand names Jimmy and Blazer during the early 1990s, and now Chevrolet has brought out a new full-fledged SUV design with powerful specs on form of the Tahoe.

In the year 1994, the Chevrolet named the mid size S-10 Blazer as the model Blazer and also named the full size Blazer as the Tahoe. The model vehicles Yukon from the GMC and the Tahoe from the Chevrolet are currently serving as full size SUV models from the General Motors group. The wheel bases, which are lengthened furthermore, are available for both the Yukon as Yukon XL and the Tahoe as Suburban.

The Tahoe model is sometimes used as the police car in North America, mostly in the rural areas of North America, where more ground clearance and the four wheel drive is badly needed. The Yukon vehicle was released for the first time in the year 1992 and the firm is still continuing its production. Something similar happens to be the case with the Tahoe, which was released in the year 1995 and is also continuing its stronghold in the market. The Tahoe was the predecessor of the Chevrolet K-Blazer also called as the GMC K5 Jimmy. The layout of the vehicle comes with the front engine providing rear wheel drive or four wheel drive.

The model is also used by the state police of Sao Paulo and the state police of Rio Grande do Sul. The majority of the models were substituted whenever they became older, but the Tahoe had a long reign of supremacy of over couple of decades and in now ready to re-enter the market with another revamp. Keeping the powerful characteristics of the vehicle in mind, it best suits the needs of the police units.

As far as the sales of the model Tahoe in America are concerned, as of on 2008, 202,319 vehicles were sold in the fiscal year 2001, 209,767 Tahoe vehicles in the year 2002, 199,065 in the year 2003,186,161 vehicles in the year 2004, 152,307 in the year 2005, 161,491 in the year 2006, 146,259 in the year 2007 and sold 91,578 vehicles in the year 2008.
