The Sporty Chevy For The Discerning

The Chevrolet Corvette can, undoubtedly, be called America's Sport car. The car comes in three different models, the Coupe, the Convertible and the Z06, expensive, but worth every cent.

Those Corvette enthusiasts of the earlier genre will lament the absence of the Retractable Headlights, a signature feature since the early 60s, but a crucial retraction based on aerodynamic considerations. The Corvette is one gorgeous and stunning example of car design. All the models are fitted with some standard equipment like Composite Body Panels, Dual Halogen Fog Lamps, Xenon, Low Beam, High-Intensity Discharge Headlights, with Automatic External Light Control, Dual Power-Remote, Heated, Auto-Dimming Mirrors and Intermittent Front Wipers, to name a salient few. The optional fittings come in various forms and are specific to the model but are relatively few.

The Coupe and the Convertible are powered by 430 hp., 6.2 lt., LS3 Aluminum Block V8 SFI Engine capable of delivering a 424 lbs.-ft. torque at 4600 rpm and an average MPG of 16/26 (city / highway). The Z06 differs in that it is driven by a more powerful 7.2 lt. Engine. In spite of the awesome power none of them attract the Federal Government Gas-Guzzler Penalty. One of the optional fittings available for the Coupe and the Convertible is the Dual-Mode Performance Exhaust System which adds an additional zip of 6 hp. The Z06, of course, comes with a technologically advanced exhaust system of its own, the Z06 Exhaust System.

All three models of the Corvette come with a 6 Speed Manual Short Throw transmission with a 6 Speed Paddle Shift with Auto Mode available for the Coupe and the Corvette which allows a choice of either manual or automatic driving.

In the safety department, all the three models of the Corvette offer an unique Active Handling System which is an Electronic combination of Traction Control and Anti-Lock Brakes, orchestrated by an amalgamation of Microcomputers, Accelerometers and Stability Sensors all working in tandem. This compares steering input with actual response and carries out, when necessary, individual brake corrections to allow the driver to maintain stability and stay on track. Dual Stage, Driver and Passenger Frontal Air-Bags with Passenger Sensing System are provided as typical gear. Door Locks (Powered, Programmable and including Lockout Protection), Keyless Access with Push-Button Start are some of the other outstanding safety features.

The interior of these cars are just as plush as any other car of the same cadre, maybe even a tad more so. Air Conditioning with Filtration makes travel a delight. The new Custom Leather-Wrapped Interior Package is now available for the Coupe and the Convertible (4LT trim levels) and for the Z06 (3LZ trim levels).

Entertainment and Communication do not take a back seat in any of the Corvettes. AM / FM stereo with CD / MP3 player, Radio Data System and seven speakers is a standard with the option of switching to a High Ended Bose® Audio System. A GPS Linked Navigation System is offered optionally.
