Whether these models will be AWD due to hybridization remains to be seen. If they are, Ford will likely give you the option of disconnecting the front motor so you can partake in the most traditional of Mustang driver pastimes, which is doing an epic burnout and ending up in a ditch.
The time is right for an all-new Mustang. It doesn’t feel like it, but the current model has been around since 2015.
Ford likely chose the Detroit Motor Show because of the Mustang’s close ties to the city. The new model will be assembled at the same factory as the outgoing model in Flat Rock, Michigan.
More powerful models will inevitably follow, given the success of cars like the Shelby GT350, GT500, Mach 1, and Bullitt.
The 2022 Detroit Motor Show will run from September 14-25.
