Ford Is Giving Its V8 Supercars Another Shot Against Chevy

Motorsport.com reports that Ford will be allowed to introduce a new aero package ahead of this weekend’s Gold Coast 500, with alterations coming to the rear wing, side skirts, and front fascia. This is expected to reduce drag while moving downforce to the car’s rear.

“After a comprehensive evaluation conducted by Supercars, and in consultation with the Homologation Teams, it has been determined that adjustments will be implemented to the Ford Mustang Vehicle Specification Document in preparation for the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 event,” reads a statement from the organizers.

Unfortunately for those campaigning the S650, Ford thinks these changes will still have it lagging behind the Camaro, with the Blue Oval saying that it believes engine updates are also required for fairer racing.
