About 2013 Chevrolet SUVs

Chevrolet is the largest brand of the General Motors Company, a producer of cars, trucks and sport utility vehicles. Its US fleet is comprised of four SUV lines, including two offering unibody construction and two featuring a traditional body on frame layout. From small to large, Chevrolet SUVs seat from five to as many as nine people.

Chevrolet Equinox

Seating five passengers, the compact Equinox is available with front-and-all-wheel-drive drivetrain systems. This model is powered by a 2.4-liter 16-valve four cylinder engine that makes 182 horsepower at 6,700 rpm and 172 foot-pounds of torque at 4,900 rpm. Optionally a 3.0-liter V-6 engine is available, a 24-valve motor that makes 264 horsepower at 6,950 rpm and 222 foot-pounds of torque at 5,100 rpm. Both engines are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The smaller engine has a towing capacity of 1,500 pounds; the larger engine offers 3,500 pounds of towing capacity.

Chevrolet Traverse

New for 2013, the Chevy Traverse returns offering seating for seven or eight people and is sold as a front-or all-wheel-drive model. This larger midsize crossover is powered by a 24-valve V-6 engine displacing at 3.6 liters. Featuring direct injection, the Traverse offers up to 288 horsepower at 6,300 rpm and up to 270 foot-pounds of torque at 3,400 rpm. This model is paired with GM's next generation 6-speed automatic transmission. The Traverse has a maximum towing capacity of 5,200 pounds.

Chevrolet Tahoe / Tahoe Hybrid

Seating up to nine people, the Chevrolet Tahoe is powered by a 5.3-liter V-8 engine that makes 320 horsepower at 5,400 rpm and 335 foot-pounds of torque at 4,400 rpm. This 16-valve engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Choose the 2WD Tahoe and your vehicle has an 8,500-pound towing capacity. The Tahoe 4WD can pull up to 8,200 pounds. A Tahoe Hybrid model is also available, powered by a 6.0-liter 16-valve V-8 engine that makes 332 horsepower at 5,100 rpm and 367 foot-pounds of torque at 4,100 rpm. This engine is paired with a 2-mode continuous electric ratio hybrid transmission with four fixed gears. Towing capacity is 6,200 pounds for the 2WD model and 5,900 pounds for the Tahoe 4WD.

Chevrolet Suburban

The largest Chevrolet SUV is its Suburban, a model that has been built for more than 75 years. Sold in 2 and 4-wheel-drive configurations and available in half and three-quarter ton arrangements, the Suburban is powered by a 5.3-liter 16-valve V-8 engine making 320 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 335 foot-pounds of torque at 4,000 rpm. Optionally, a 6.0-liter 16-valve V-8 engine is available and makes 352 horsepower at 5,400 rpm and 382 foot-pounds of torque at 4,200 rpm. Both engines are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Top trailering capacity ranges from 8,000 to 9,600 pounds.
