The new Aston Martin Vanquish, the replacement for the DBS, will finally be unveiled next week, ushering in a bold design and a powerful V12 engine, among other things. To keep our mouths watering ahead of the imminent reveal, the Gaydon-based brand has teased the taillight design on the new range-topper, and it’s a drastic departure from other series-produced Astons.
Unlike the sleek but separated clusters applied to the rear fascias of the latest DB12 grand tourer and new Vantage sports car, the Vanquish will adopt individual LED lights stacked in a horizontal shape. While the execution is unique, the lighting element shape has been seen before on the exclusive Valour and, more recently, the track-focused Valiant.
Unusual Taillights Take Inspiration From New And Old Astons
While the horizontal lighting is unusual for a modern-day Aston Martin, the brand could be trying to capture the iconic stacked taillights of the DB5 and DB6, two of the most iconic cars to hail from the marque. Carbon fiber will be framed within this lighting layout, giving a touch of modernity and balancing the louvered vents we’ve seen on the hood. Unfortunately, the automaker hasn’t shared any details regarding the newcomer, with the caption simply stating, “All conformity will be Vanquished.”

This suggests that the new Vanquish will be a drastic departure from the GTs that we know and love. That being said, it will still be recognizable as an Aston Martin, with the familiar front fascia and headlight design worn by the Vantage and the DB12. Of course, we expect the Vanquish will be more aggressive than its lesser siblings and carry unique styling details that set it apart from the crowd.

Gorgeous Styling Is Guaranteed
Early spy shots of the Vanquish have given us an idea of what it will look like, with oval-shaped headlights, pronounced wheel arches, and a seductive, shapely body with a Kamm-like tail. This teaser finally confirms that the prototypes of Gaydon’s new supercar were not wearing artificially augmented bodies. As for the engine, the Vanquish will be powered by a twin-turbo V12.
The new engine of unspecified capacity develops an astonishing 824 horsepower, which places the Vanquish in the same territory as the Ferrari 12Cilindri – its closest rival at 819 (naturally aspirated) horsepower. As you would expect, the V12-powered Vanquish emits a noise so beautiful it could nearly convince EV fans to drop their flags. We don’t have much longer to wait, with the reveal scheduled for September 2. Since Aston Martin has been on a winning streak lately with the excellent DB12 and Vantage, we expect the new Vanquish to be a first-class super GT.
