The readers of the “Sport Auto” magazine picked the Abarth 695 biposto as their favourite
The readers of “Sport Auto” have decided: their favourite is the Abarth 695 biposto. In the “Sport Auto AWARD 2017” competition, they chose the most extreme and powerful standard Abarth ever in the imported “standard small cars” category. With a turbocharged 190-hp engine and plenty of racing equipment, the Abarth 695 biposto took the second place in the overall rating of its category, beating many German competitors.
“In the sports car segment, the Abarth 695 biposto held its own against very strong competitors. Wining in this segment is further confirmation of our strategy to make racing sports technology available in standard production cars. ‘Born on the racetrack, for life on the road’ is more than just a slogan for us,” said Harald Koch, Brand Manager Abarth at the award ceremony in Stuttgart.
Not by chance, the Abarth 695 biposto comes closer to the “street-legal racing car” claim than any other model in the history of the brand with the Scorpion badge. The 1.4-litre turbo engine delivers 190 hp at 5750 rpm. The two-seater Italian weighs just 997 kilos, can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 230 km/h.
The Abarth motorsport know-how is also reflected in aerodynamics of the car, which has carbon components, the optional polycarbonate side windows, exhaust system developed in collaboration with racing specialist Akrapovic®, Brembo® high-performance brakes and the height-adjustable sports suspension with OZ® 18-inch light steel rims. Pure functionality is also evident inside the cockpit. Drivers and co-drivers can enjoy the extreme grip of the “Abarth Corsa by Sabelt®” racing seats with four-point harness seat belts. A titanium pillar behind the seats improves torsional stiffness of the entire vehicle, while a net attached to it serves as storage for helmets.
Finally, the motorsport genes of the Abarth 695 biposto also can be seen in the transmission. As a world champion in the sports cars field, a “dog-ring” five-speed racing gearbox is optionally available, allowing experienced drivers to shift very quickly without pressing the clutch. This gearbox is paired with a mechanical lamella lock for optimum propulsion. This technology gives the Abarth 695 biposto the perfect combination of high performance for the road with the personality of a racing car.

Alfa Romeo Giulia also took two wins at “Sport Auto AWARD 2017”
The awards dealt out by “Sport Auto”, one of Germany’s top car magazines, is for the sportiest road cars only. “We are very proud to have win no fewer than two titles with the Alfa Romeo Giulia”, declared Brand Manager Rebecca Reinermann at the prize-giving ceremony in Stuttgart. The high-end Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, powered by a V6 turbo petrol engine delivering 510 hp, won the import class in the “Standard Sedans/Station Wagons up to 100,000 Euros” category. The Alfa Romeo Giulia 2.0 Turbo Veloce, with a 280 hp turbo petrol engine under its bonnet, was rated as the number one import car in the “Standard Sedans/Station Wagons up to 50,000 Euros” category by the readers of “Sport Auto” magazine.
Both Alfa Romeo Giulia models were among the best also in the overall ranking in their respective categories. Each taking the respective third places, they beat may German competitors in famous readers’ survey. “The readers of ‘Sport Auto’ mainly honoured the dynamic characteristics of each contestant. This is why both Alfa Romeo Giulia models got highest accolade”, added Rebecca Reinermann.
The Italian sports sedan was developed with people who are looking for a high-performance car with a bold personality. The Alfa Romeo Giulia satisfies these requirements with its typical Italian design, powerful engines, body, powertrain and suspension components made of alloy or even carbon fibre, its perfect weight distribution (close to 50:50 across the front and rear axle) and high power-to-weight ratio, among other features.
