The 2018 Ford Mustang GT features a 5.0L V8 Coyote engine just like the 2011 Ford Mustang GT, however there are some significant revisions which result in healthy performance gains. The engine now produces 460 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque, up 25 HP and 20 lb-ft from the previous model year. The 2018 engine has won a Ward’s Auto 10 Best Engines award, in addition to winning in 2011 and in 2012.

The 5 liter engine now features plasma-transferred wire arc cylinder liners, an increased compression ratio, a wider bore, larger valves, and an increased redline. I’d argue it’s also the best sounding Mustang GT ever, with 4 exhaust modes ready at the push of a button, altering a valve in the tailpipe which alters flow.
