The Chevrolet Cruze Is A Serious Contender In The Affordable Small Car Market

GM has been under a lot of scrutiny in the media but that hasn't stopped the company from producing affordable cars. One prime example is the Chevrolet Cruz. Not only is this auto relatively low priced but it also offers a ton of safety systems and upscale amenities. Many auto models are generally targeted towards a specific demographic such as the European market or US market but the Cruz aims to appeal on a world-wide level. There are four trim levels with the Eco mode being the most efficient.

Step inside the 2011 Chevy Cruz and you won't be able to tell that this vehicle actually competes in the affordable small car niche. Chrome touches have been used throughout and there is sufficient space for five adults. If you choose the upper level SLT or LTZ models you even get heated seats; just perfect for cold mornings. Thanks to the OnStar system you can even check your Facebook messages or update your profile. Another nice bonus is the large trunk space; 15 cubic feet of space to pack fishing gear, surf boards or even shopping bags.

The Eco trim model really stands out for its gas mileage numbers; it gets an impressive 42 mpg when you're cruising down the interstate and 28 mpg during city driving. You can choose from two engines; a 1.4 Ltr V4 engine with 138 hp and and a 1.8 Ltr V4 engine with 136 hp for the LS version. The engine is designed to work in conjunction with Direct injection technology which helps to maximize gas mileage. The Eco model has shutters in its front grille; these shutters close when driving at fast speeds in order to get the most mileage. An optional six speed automatic transmission is available.

Safety issues have been thoroughly addressed with a large number of systems designed to keep the driver and passengers safe. Top of the line features include a steel safety cage and ten air bags; that's the most in its class. A subscription can be added for the OnStar service which notifies emergency responders of your exact GPS location in case of an accident or rollover. The extensive warranty covers 100k miles or 5 years, whichever comes sooner.

The Cruze is a car that delivers when it comes to safety, interior features and fuel efficiency without costing an arm and the leg. The best bet would be to opt for the Eco version which seriously boosts up gas mileage. Pricing starts at around seventeen thousand dollars for the base model.
