2021 was a fantastic year for the Ford Motor Company. The Blue Oval launched several successful new models including the off-road capable Bronco, lifestyle-friendly Maverick, and tech-forward Mustang Mach-E. With the all-electric 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning slated to arrive next year, Ford should carry its momentum into next year and build upon the success in 2021. Customers aren’t the only ones taking notice of Ford’s product onslaught, as the market has caught on with the year now coming to a close.
Ford’s market capitalization closed at $82.962 billion on Tuesday, narrowly beating out General Motors at $82.916 billion. This is the first time Ford has surpassed GM’s market cap since 2016. GM is narrowly higher than Ford as of this writing ($83.31 billion compared to $82.14 billion), but it will be interesting to see where these numbers land when the market closes at the end of the week leading into 2022.
