Finally, we have Audi. Like the Hoonipigasus project, Block’s work with Audi never reached its full potential. When Block announced his deal with the brand, acting as an ambassador and test driver of sorts, it became even clearer that Block’s appeal was not limited to rally cars, to V8-powered monsters, or even to the world of combustion. Block and Audi showed that electric cars could be cool, exciting, fun, and sexy. And that even the most adrenaline-addicted wheelman can be blown away by something that doesn’t have an engine note. We sorely wish Block could have been with us longer to show us what else he and Ingolstadt had planned, but we’re grateful we got to witness so much of his excellence.
To all the companies that brought Block’s brilliance to our screens, we thank you. These automakers embraced a renegade the likes of which we will never see again, and their tributes have only reminded us how much we enjoyed his presence in the automotive space. To his friends and family, thank you for sharing Ken Block with the world. He will forever be irreplaceable.
