DRAG RACE: Twin-Turbo Ford Bronco Vs. Dodge Viper GTS

Owner/builder Ryan Hauf claims that this tuned Bronco can make 669 horsepower, and it also has four-wheel drive. Sounds like a good contender, but it’s a bit hefty at 4,700 pounds. It also has the aerodynamic efficiency of a lunch box, which the Viper has an advantage on.

On the other side is the second-gen Viper GTS. It still has its stock 8.0-liter naturally-aspirated V10. Owner Nick Reid says that it makes 450 horsepower to the crank. It doesn’t have mods for the engine, but it does have a lowered ride height, increased airflow to the engine bay, and a titanium exhaust.

The car looks rough because Reid drives it a lot – the complete opposite of the very well-preserved 819-mile Viper GTS auctioned off last month. And unlike the Bronco, the coupe has a rear-wheel drivetrain and weighs much less at 3,300 lbs.
