A collaboration with Jacob & Co, this work of art was inspired by the equally spectacular Bugatti Chiron. The two companies sought to recreate the visceral appeal of the Chiron’s 16-cylinder engine in a timepiece, leading to almost a year of development. The case of the timepiece is inspired by the Chiron’s flowing lines, while below the sapphire crystal, the hypercar’s engine block is mirrored by the gorgeously detailed mechanics of the watch.
By pushing down the right-hand crown of the timepiece, the “engine” comes to life. One can see the turning of the crankshaft and the up-and-down motions of the 16 pistons. Unable to squeeze the Chiron’s four turbochargers into such a small space, the watchmaker settled on just two, which are located on the side of the engine block.
There are 578 components in this masterpiece, which uses the first inclined tourbillon by Jacob & Co, which is inclined to 30 degrees. There are three crowns at the bottom of the case, each one with the Bugatti logo on it. Materials include 18-carat Rose Gold and a titanium caseback.
Limited to 72 pieces, the Chiron Tourbillon Rose Gold is worth an incredible $380,000.
