Vintage Widebody Ford Mustang Gets Coyote V8 Heart Transplant In A Shed

An owner of a first-generation Ford Mustang gave his classic pony car a new lease on life by swapping a Coyote V8 – one of the most versatile engines out there – under the hood, along with other performance upgrades that make the build crazier than its slightly dilapidated appearance might suggest. All the modifications here were done at home, showcasing the skills of its owner, Ryan.

Under the hood is a 5.0-liter Gen 1 Coyote V8, which makes 412 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque from the factory. We’re unsure of the exact output figure as no dyno sheet was provided, but Ryan said Lund Racing tuned the engine. This replaced the car’s inline-six when he bought the unit for $3,500.
