Ford Maverick Performs Well In Crash Test Where Several Others Don’t

According to the IIHS, Ford Maverick units built after July 2022 have improved front-side curtain airbags courtesy of a recall. Ford also fixed Mavericks produced before July 2022, so the rating is applicable to all Maverick model years.

Looking at the test in-depth, the Maverick received a “good” rating for the driver’s head, neck, and torso. It only received a “marginal” rating for the pelvis, however. Rear passenger safety also received a “good” rating for the head, neck, and pelvis, while the torso scored an “acceptable” rating.

In the crash avoidance and mitigation category, the Maverick received an “acceptable” rating for the headlights, a “basic” rating for the night vehicle-to-pedestrian test, an “advanced” rating for the daytime vehicle-to-pedestrian test, and a “superior” rating for the vehicle-to-vehicle evaluation.
